Kim Mills is the executive chef/owner of the private chef/catering company, Laughter Travels Gourmet, LLC. Born out of her love of various cuisines and food experiences Chef Kim, decided to share her passion for food with a wider audience. The unique name was organically created like most of her food: Laughter: Kim is known for her infectious laugh; Travels: Chef Kim travels to cook customized flavorful meals for her clients & her passion is domestic/international travel; and Gourmet: she is a connoisseur of fine food/drink/producer of fine food. Laughter Travels Gourmet provides customized food restaurant quality services in the comfort of your home. “My food reflects your event!” is Chef’s Kim’s philosophy. Her creations represent the personality of the host, reflects the theme of the gathering, and tantalizes the taste buds of all guests. Kim is a classically trained chef that is flexible enough to create soulful soul food, Mediterranean flair, or Vegan/Vegetarian delights. Food is multifaceted and touches so many parts of our lives: culture, education, economics, and selfcare. Chef Kim believes in sharing her knowledge and empowering others to be educated about food as well.

Kim graduated with a B.S. from Vanderbilt University in Human and Organizational Development. Prior to formally pursing her passion for food, Chef Kim had an extensive award winning 14 year career in Pharmaceutical Sales for several of the top companies in the industry. After formally making the decision to change professions, Kim graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) with Honors in Culinary Arts.

In addition to her duties as a Chef/Business Owner, Kim is an Adjunct Lecturer at LaGuardia Community College teaching: Culinary Arts I&II, Food &; Culture, and Menu Planning & Production. Community and curriculum development is of great importance to Kim, so she also serves as a member of the Health Sciences Department Advisory Board at LaGuardia Community College. Kim has been a member of the New York Women’s Culinary Alliance, where she served on the Executive Board as Treasurer, and her last position held was Vice President. Lastly, Chef Kim has published several recipes for a pharmaceutical firm for their patient resource platform & consulted on recipes for a weight loss center.

As a culinary student Kim worked on several premier culinary events including: NYC Wine & Food Festival’s Taco & Tequila Event; as Sous Chef for celebrity Chef Lauren Von Der Pool Gourmet’s Russell Simmons Rush Card Presents Brush Stroke Vegan Food Art Experience during Miami Art Basel; James Beard House “A Taste of Australia Dinner” with Chef Paul Baker; and ICE’s Zero Food Waste Conference with Award winning Pastry Chef Kathryn Gordon. Prior to graduation, Chef Kim completed her culinary externship at Vic’s restaurant in NOHO which specializes in locally sourced Italian-Mediterranean food. Chef Kim continues to grow by providing: versatile menus, flavors, and cutting edge techniques for her celebrity clients with authentic flavors. Most recently Chef Kim did an intensive culinary study in France in June (2018), Thailand in February (2019), and Mexico (April 2019).
